Mockery is the sincerest form of mockery.
Even on his special day, some brilliant headline writer at NHL.com thought it would be funny to mock Marty for being fat. They were right, it was funny. It's always funny. And thusly we are happy to celebrate Marty Gras.
(In case you're completely lost, gras = fat in French.).

Actually the french word is "gros," which kind of got corrupted in "mardi gras."
Gras means fat too, but more like "fatty," to describe unhealthy food more than people. Like fois gras.
Either way, making fun of the fatso is always funny.
